Lumber and Wood

Trade and Tariffs

Chapter 44 of the Harmonized Tariff System defines the lumber and wood sector. Lumber and wood accounted for approximately 1 percent of total U.S. non-textile industrial exports to Bahrain in 2002. Top U.S. exports in this sector were lumber from oak, sawn and other non-coniferous woods. Bahrain applies a uniform tariff of five percent on lumber and wood products.

Bahrain did not export goods from this sector to the United States in 2002. The United States, however, applies tariffs of 0 to 10.7 percent to these products, with an average of 2 percent.

Tariff Elimination

Both sides will eliminate duties on imports of lumber and wood products from the other Party immediately upon implementation of the Agreement.
