Trade and Tariffs

The energy sector includes a variety of products used in energy production and distribution, including fuels, generators, electrical machinery, and batteries. Energy products accounted for 8 percent of total U.S. non-textile industrial exports to Bahrain in 2002, totaling $12 million . Parts for boring or sinking machinery lead U.S. exports in the sector. Bahrain pplies a uniform tariff of five percent on energy products.

Bahrain did not export products from this sector to the United States in 2002. The United States applies tariffs on energy products of zero to 6.5 percent, with an average of 1.3 percent. The highest tariffs are applied to electric motors.

Tariff Elimination

Both sides will eliminate duties on imports of energy products from the other Party immediately upon implementation of the Agreement.
