Summary
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has about 400 member
companies, most of them small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), whose binding
interest is in products that generate, distribute, control, or use electricity.
U.S. firms have increased exports to China but still have only scratched the surface of potential demand. Future export growth will depend on what standards China adopts. Therefore, NEMA will: (1) open a Beijing office with a local industry expert as China director; (2) prepare NEMA literature in Chinese; (3) coach SME executives; (4) lead trade missions and technical seminars in China; (5) participate in standards committees in China; and (6) publish standards that cover products of U.S. industry firms.
