University HealthSystem Consortium

Export of Healthcare Services

The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) won a $499,000 MDCP award in 2010. An early result of this project is the U.S. Cooperative for International Patient Programs (USCIPP). The MDCP project is now a UHC/USCIPP partnership with Rush University which has brought together 35-plus U.S. academic medical centers with an international footprint to work together on supporting the success of U.S hospitals and specialty clinics in serving international patients.

The project, which is managed by UHC- a consortium of 116 academic medical centers and their 276 affiliate hospitals, focuses on three overarching goals: 1) increase exports from U.S. medical centers; 2) support a more engaged and integrated industry that can jointly promote the sector and; 3) conduct a rigorous data and evaluation to program to better measure health services exports.
