Continued Success in Shanghai

AMT-The Association for Manufacturing Technology, serves their 300 members from the U.S. machine tool industry out of Mclean, VA.

Project

After several months of research, negotiation, and preparation coordinated with ITA, AMT established its technical and service center near Shanghai. The center allows U.S. firms to base field engineers, warehouse repair parts, and demonstrate products to potential customers. Since the MDCP project ended in 2006, AMT has used the center to help 24 more U.S. firms and has posted an additional $96 million in exports. These results are in addition to those noted at the bottom of the page.

Hurco sells $10 million, “graduates”

From the opening of the center in late 2004 until 2009, Hurco, an Indiana-based company, grew its China business using the center as its base. Over these five years, the company made $10 million in sales to China. In 2009, Hurco “graduated” from the center and set up its own base in Ningbo, China.
