20000411--Anhui Plans 11.5 Billion Yuan for Housing Construction



HEFEI (CEIS) -- Anhui Province in east China plans

to invest 11.5 billion yuan in residential building

construction and complete 18 million square meters in

2000.

Economy class housing will be the focus of the 2000

plan in order to satisfy the market demand.

To promote housing reform, the province will direct

and encourage enterprises to utilize their land resources

for housing construction by raising funds among

employees.

At the same time, it will work to expand the market

of residential buildings in small towns and apartments

for students.

The province invested 11.5 billion yuan in

residential buildings in 1999, completed 18.2 million

square meters of homes. About 4.1 billion yuan were

injected into the construction of livable houses for low-

income families and completed 3.1 million square meters.
