U.S. Department of Commerce Helps American Company Secure $22.5 Million Contract with the Republic of Chad
Contract Will Support U.S. Jobs
WASHINGTON – Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez today announced that the Metairie, Louisiana-based company Tuleu Consulting Company (TCC) has been awarded a contract by the Republic of Chad to sell 500 John Deere agricultural tractors to the Republic of Chad’s “Programme National de Sécurité Alimentaire” (PNSA, National Food Security Program). The sale represents a $22.5 million deal for TCC, $11.5 million of which is U.S. export content.
This successful bid was supported by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Advocacy Center, which coordinates federal resources and authority in order to level the playing field on behalf of U.S. businesses as they compete against foreign firms for specific international contracts or other U.S. export opportunities. The contract was signed at a ceremony at the U.S. Department of Commerce today with senior ministers from Chad and Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez.
“TCC benefited from an aggressive, coordinated interagency commercial advocacy campaign spearheaded by our Advocacy Center to win a contract that will mean more jobs for American workers,” said Under Secretary Sánchez. “U.S. exports reached an all-time high of $2.2 trillion in 2012, and supported nearly 10 million jobs. The work of our Advocacy Center is more important than ever, and I congratulate TCC on winning this valuable contract.”
This sale represents the largest contract in the history of TCC. As part of the sale, Tuleu Consulting Company will establish a John Deere service center in the Republic of Chad to provide aftermarket sales and service to PNSA and its customers, and begin what Tuleu Consulting Company described as a “valuable and long standing relationship between all parties.”
Since its creation in 1993, the Advocacy Center has coordinated U.S. Government resources to help hundreds of American companies, including small, medium and large enterprises in various industry sectors, win government contracts across the globe. In fiscal year 2012, the Advocacy Center recorded the U.S. Government’s best year to date: client companies reported 53 wins with a total estimated value of $87.1 billion and U.S. export content of $73.9 billion. The U.S. export content supports an estimated 369,500 American jobs.
