International Trade Administration and National District Export Council Formalize Export Promotion Partnership
WASHINGTON – Today Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Michelle O’Neill and National District Export Council (NDEC) Chair, Daniel Ogden, formalized a new export promotion partnership. Through this new partnership, the International Trade Administration (ITA) and NDEC will jointly support the efforts of 59 local District Export Councils (DECs) to promote U.S. exports in support of millions of American jobs.
“The National District Export Council and the local DECs are committed to supporting ITA’s mission and assisting U.S. exporters throughout the country,” O’Neill said. “This memorandum of understanding solidifies this important relationship and commits both parties to continuing to grow U.S. exports in support of President Obama’s National Export Initiative.”
DECs are groups of international business professionals that are appointed by the Secretary of Commerce. A 16-member DEC National Steering Committee represents more than 1,300 local DEC members, and serves as a liaison to ITA. The NDEC is a private, non-profit corporation that was independently established by members of the DEC National Steering Committee.
