New Acquisition Service Provider

Please be advised that the ITA is working with the Department of Interior (DOI) as our new acquisition services provider for FY 2012.  We will no longer be processing new purchase requests through the NOAA Acquisition  Office, effective immediately.  All FY 12 acquisitions will be processed by DOI.  NOAA will continue to service ITA grants as well as those purchase orders and contracts that have already been awarded and will provide close-out services as those contracts expire.

In the coming days, ITA will be sending out further communications about what this change means in terms of new order processing and requirements.  We will post information on the OMO website on ITA Central under the “Procurement” heading, as well as sending out emails to Resource Coordinators and COTRs.  We will also include additional information about this change in the next issue of News You Can Use.

If you have questions or concerns about this change, please contact Robin Carpenter, ITA’s Procurement Liaison, at 202-482-4989 or via email at Robin.Carpenter@Trade.Gov.

Use FedTraveler For Local Travel

ITA travelers are reminded that the conversion to FedTraveler means that reimbursement for local travel (taxis, etc.) will also be handled via the FedTraveler system you will no longer have to manually fill out SF-1164In order to help contain processing costs, it is advisable to accumulate several local travel receipts before submitting them for reimbursement.  A fee of $6.76 will be assessed to your office budget for each local travel voucher that is submitted.

If you have questions, please contact your travel contact or Sharon Russell at:  Sharon.Russell@trade.gov or 202-482-3267.

Read it. Don’t Print it. Go Green Initiative

The “Read it. Don’t Print it” initiative encourages ITA employees to read documents electronically rather than printing them.

However, have you ever hosted or attended a meeting where the phrase “Killing Trees” comes to mind due to the excess uncollected copies of meeting documents? When you are hosting or attending a meeting that includes meeting materials, please note in your meeting invite whether “documents will or WILL NOT be provided or ask whether documents will be provided. This simple practice is another step closer to the President’s Campaign to Cut Waste. These best practices also align with the Department’s Cost Reduction Project, to drive down costs and reduce inefficiencies by streamlining and driving significant savings.  Always remember to recycle if “Killing Trees” is your only other option.

Please visit ITA Central's MyIdea_MyITA Employee Suggestion Program and select the “Read it. Don’t Print it.” link for instructions and information. For additional questions, please contact   Clarance Burden, Office of Strategic Resources at 202-482-4285.
