Department Seals, Emblems, Insignia, and Logos

To request Department review of a newly authorized seal, an operating unit must complete Form CD-506 Request for Approval of Commerce Seal, Emblem, Insignia, or Logo (available on both the Department’s Internet and Intranet web sites).  Criteria for this type of request are spelled out in Department Administrative Order (DAO) 201-1 Section 6.  The approval process for this type of request can take anywhere from two (2) weeks to one (1) month,  so please plan ahead.  Questions regarding this process may be directed to mailto:Jacqueline_Harris@ita.doc.gov or (202)482-4011.

Transit Benefit Application

In order to assist the Department of Transportation (DOT) in the processing of transit benefit requests, applicants who submit an ITA-2064, “DOC Application For Transit Benefit”, for a name change must indicate their previous name on the application.  Also, DOT is having problems with names not matching the government identification badge, so it is imperative that the last 4 digits of an applicant’s social security number and the last name on the badge match.  If you have any questions, please call Sharon Russell at (202)482-3267.

President's Budget

As mentioned in previous editions of Administrivial Pursuits there are ten steps in the appropriations process after the President submits his budget proposal to the Congress. The Commerce Appropriation has completed the  5th step, which is consideration and passage of the Commerce Appropriation by the full Senate Appropriations Committee. The next step is approval by the entire Senate. After that the two Houses will meet to reconcile differences between their differing versions of the budget. If this reconciliation doesn't occur before October 1st, as has often been the case, ITA will operate under a continuing resolution (CR).  If necessary guidance on operating under a CR will be published in September.  The Senate version of the ITA appropriation differs from the House and the Presidents version in some crucial areas, such as:  A.  Both the House and Senate versions are higher than the President's Budget, B.  Both the House and Senate versions have added earmarks for textile grants which are not included in the President's Budget, C.  The Senate version lowered the amount of fee funding from the amount provided in the House and the President's Budget.  The entire Senate report can be found on the Library of Congress website (http://thomas.loc.gov/home/approp/app07.html) where you only need to scroll down to HR 5672 for a complete display of all of the Congressional action impacting ITA's appropriation.  For additional information call Doug Allis at ( 202)482-9151.

Where Do I Find….. information on ITA’s Strategic Human Capital Initiatives?

Employees can find information relating to the President’s Management Agenda (PMA) Strategic Human Capital Initiatives on the ITA Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) Web site at http://www.ita.doc.gov/hrm/. Strategic human capital management is the transformation of how we employ, deploy, develop and evaluate the workforce.  It focuses on results, not processes.  It places the right people in the right jobs to most effectively perform the work of the organization.  Quarterly, ITA/OHRM submits progress results on strategic human capital to the Department.  ITA is graded by the Department on the progress and results made on the human capital initiative of the PMA.  For more information on ITA’s Strategic Human Capital, please contact Ruben Pedroza at (202)482-3072 or via email at Ruben.Pedroza@mail.doc.gov.
