Telephone Problems

Last month during the emergency drill, many HQ phones failed to properly broadcast emergency messages.  Since then, Department phone managers have been trying to debug and reconfigure the system.  As a result, you may see test emergency messages on your phone in the morning, and you may be experiencing some telephone problems.  If your phone is not properly working,  report it directly to the HCHB Phone Help Desk, (202)482-5010.  If you have questions, or need to make changes to your phone's configuration, contact Jeff Scherr at (202)482-3266.

Go on...AskReorg!

Did you know that there is a direct line of communication for status on the ITA reorganization?  The answer is yes!  ITA's reorganization web-site hosts an ask reorganization mailbox.  The mailbox is accessible by clicking on the following link, askreorganization@ita.doc.gov .  You will receive a personal accurate and up-to-date response to your question within five days.  Why rely on the rumor mill or second or third hand sources?  Go to the source and AskReorg!  If you have questions contact Ed Meyer at (202)482-3304.

New Chief, Workforce Development

We would like to welcome Carol Davison to OHRM as the new Chief, Workforce Development. Carol came to us from the Navy Engineering and Logistics Office where she served as the Career Management Officer. ITA Speakers' Series for March
Date and Time:  Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at 10:00
Location: Room 1414
Speakers: Jane Corwin and Rebecca Reese, Directors of Industry Trade Policy,   Trade Development
Topic:  Job-Sharing as Managers
Speakers will present the key elements needed for a successful job-sharing management team; discuss challenges a job-share team faces particularly in managing a large staff; how staff views job-sharing bosses; and how this is viewed by senior officials in the Department.  If you have questions contact Rosemary Pappas at (202)482-0482.

Conference Rooms Guidelines

The Department recently placed food and drink off limits in conference rooms.  However the Department has determined that there are certain business meetings conducted with industry and foreign officials where it is customary to serve food and beverages to participants.  Therefore, exceptions will be made to the "no food and drink"  in conference rooms for these types of meetings.  You must first have an approved Hospitality Request.  A CD 410 Work Request should be submitted to OOMS in room 4001.  If necessary, the CD 410 will be used to cover cleaning expenses that result from spills during an event.   If you have questions, contact Judy Wilson at (202)482-3265 or e-mail me at Judith_Wilson@ita.doc.gov
