Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States by Asian-Pacific investors plays an important and growing role in the U.S. economy. This paper focuses on 10 countries and geographic entities that have a large FDI presence in the United States: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan. It explores the role of FDI from these countries, analyzes recent trends, forecasts long-term prospects, and identifies new opportunities for the U.S. economy.
