COMMERCE AWARDS $2 MILLION IN GRANTS TO HELP BUSINESSES
EXPORT The U.S Department of Commerce has awarded $2 million in financial assistance to nine U.S. non-profit organizations that work with small- and medium-sized businesses to help them expand their exports to international markets. "These awards give businesses the jump start they need to export their products," said Linda Conlin, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Development. "This is another example of this Administration's commitment to expand trade, create jobs and help businesses succeed." The funds are made available through the Commerce Department's Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP), a public-private partnership developed to help small-and medium-sized U.S. firms expand exports that support jobs. The MDCP is a competitive matching grants program that builds partnerships by providing federal assistance to non-profit organizations involved in export promotion. Awards are limited to $400,000 each. Basic information about the winning organizations is listed below.
