Determinations in the Antidumping Investigations of Pure Magnesium
and Final
Determination in the Countervailing Duty Investigation On Monday, September
17, 2001, the Department of Commerce announced its final determinations
in the above-referenced antidumping duty (AD) and countervailing duty
(CVD) investigations. We have determined that sales of Pure Magnesium
from Israel and the People's Republic of China were made at less than
fair value, while sales of Pure Magnesium from the Russian Federation
were not made at less than fair value. In addition, as a result of our
CVD investigation, we found that the sole responding producer from Israel
has received countervailable subsidies from the Government of Israel. PETITIONERS The Magnesium Corporation
of America (Magcorp) and the United Steel Workers of America, Locals
482 and 8319 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The merchandise subject to this investigation is pure magnesium. The technical language describing the scope of this investigation will be included in the preliminary determination which will be published in the Federal Register. If DOC makes an
affirmative final determination, the ITC must make a final injury determination
within 45 days. If that determination is affirmative, DOC will issue
an antidumping duty order. PERIODS OF

1. Figures are from the Census Bureau's U.S. Imports CD-rom Data Base for HTS subheadings 8104.11.0000 and 8104.30.0000. Pure magnesium was imported in ingot form only (HTS 8104.11.000) from the Russian Federation and Israel during the above time periods. Pure magnesium was imported in granular form only (HTS 8104.30.000) from the PRC during the above time periods. |
