Preliminary Determination in the Antidumping Duty Investigations
on
Imports of Ferrovanadium from the People's Republic of China and
the Republic of South Africa
On Wednesday, June 26, 2002, the Department of Commerce
announced its preliminary determination in the above-mentioned investigations
on imports of ferrovanadium from People's Republic of China ("China")
and the Republic of South Africa ("South Africa").
Petitioners:
The petitions were filed November 26, 2001, by Bear Metallurgical Company,
Shieldalloy Metallurgical Corporation, Gulf Chemical & Metallurgical
Corporation, U.S. Vanadium Corporation, and CS Metals of Louisiana LLC.
On Tuesday, December 18, 2001, the Department of Commerce announced
the initiation of these antidumping investigations.
Product Description
The merchandise subject to these investigations is ferrovanadium, an
alloying agent added to steel to enhance strength and wear resistance.
The technical language describing the scope of these investigations
will be included in the notice of initiation which will be published
in the Federal Register.
