Final
Determination of the Antidumping Duty Investigations of
Honey
from Argentina and the People's Republic of China; Final
Determination of the Countervailing Duty Investigation of
Honey from Argentina
On September
27, Commerce announced its final determinations in the antidumping
and countervailing duty investigations of honey from Argentina
and the People's Republic of China. We found that imports of honey
from Argentina and the People's Republic of China are being sold
in the United States at less than fair value. We also found that
exports/producers of honey from Argentina have received countervailable
subsidies from the Government of Argentina.
These investigations
were initiated on October 26, 2000. The period of investigation
for Argentina is July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000 The period
of investigation for the People's Republic of China is January
1, 2000 through June 30, 2000.

The merchandise
subject to these investigations is honey. The technical language
describing the scope of these investigations will be included
in the notice of initiation which will be published in the Federal
Register.
Possible
Suspension Agreements with Argentina
Although
we had initialed agreements suspending the countervailing duty
and antidumping duty investigations, we did not finalize these
agreements.

The antidumping duty cash deposit rates for Argentinian
exporters will be reduced by the amount of the export subsidy
found in the countervailing duty investigation mentioned above.

. The Department found a final subsidy rate of 4.53 percent.
However, due to the fact that a benefit under a subsidy program
increased after the period of investigation, we have assigned
a cash deposit rate of 5.85 percent.
