Notice of Preliminary Affirmative Determinations
of Sales at Less Than Fair Value: Live Processed Blue Mussels
from Canada
On Friday, October 12, 2001, the Department of Commerce announced
its preliminary determination for the above-referenced investigation.
We found that two of the four largest
exporters of processed blue mussels from Canada sold their product
below fair value.
Background:
The petition was filed March 12,
2001, by Great Eastern Mussel
Farms Inc., of Maine. Great
Eastern, as a pro se petitioner, does not have legal
counsel. The Department initiated this investigation on April
6, 2001. On April 25, 2001, the International Trade Commission
(ITC) issued a preliminary affirmative injury determination regarding
this investigation.
Product Description:
Imports covered by this investigation
are shipments of fresh, live processed blue mussels (mytilus edulis)
from Canada. The technical language describing the scope of the
investigation will be included in the notice of our preliminary
determination, which will be published in the Federal Register.
