Mary E. Isbister
Mary Isbister is president of GenMet Corp., a 75 employee metal fabricating company located in Mequon, Wisconsin.
After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry, she worked at Pfizer the pharmaceutical company, in Groton, CT for 11 years. During her tenure at Pfizer she held positions in medicinal chemistry, clinical research, and senior organizational development. In 1997 she moved with her family to Wisconsin. Between the years of 1997 and 2001, Mary founded Synergy Solutions an organizational development and strategic planning consulting business.
In 1999 Mary and her husband purchased GenMet. Since the purchase of the company by the Isbisters, GenMet has quadrupled in revenue, become ISO Certified, and undergone a Lean Transformation. In 2010, GenMet was awarded Fabricator of the Year by the national Fabricators and Manufacturers Association.
Ms. Isbister’s civil service includes in 2010 being named to the US Manufacturing Council reporting to the US Secretary of Commerce. She has been reappointed to serve an additional two year term as a member of this Advisory Council and will be acting as the Vice Chair. In 2013, Ms. Isbister was appointed by Governor Walker as the Chair of Wisconsin’s Council for Workforce Investment reporting to the Secretary of the Department of Workforce Development.
Ms. Isbister’s current civic participation includes service as a member of the Boards of Directors for a variety of non-profit organizations including:
