ITA TELEWORK SCREENING GUIDELINES


  1. Specific duties have been identified that the employee can perform at an alternate work site.
  2. The employee’s telework schedule does not present office coverage problems.
  3. The employee's overall performance evaluations are equivalent to “Meets Expectations” on a pass-fail scale and the employee’s attendance is acceptable.
  4. The employee is willing to accept visits from his/her supervisor or others during work hours.
  5. The employee has demonstrated self-starter characteristics-proven record of personal motivation.
  6. The employee can function independently, and finds satisfaction in completing tasks on his/her own, with minimal direct supervision.
  7. The employee is highly disciplined and has demonstrated the ability to establish priorities.
  8. The employee has demonstrated dependability, including history of reliable and responsible discharge of work duties.
  9. The employee has good time management/organization skills.
  10. The employee knows the organization well, and possesses a high level of skill and job knowledge.
  11. The employee is able to easily communicate by telephone with the supervisor during the day from the alternative work site.
  12. The employee demonstrates solid verbal and written communication skills.
  13. The employee has clearly defined performance standards.
  14. The employee is willing to sign and abide by a written agreement defining terms of participation and expectations.
  15. The work site is free from disturbances which would distract the employee from performing work at the alternative work site.
  16. If the alternative work site is the home, the employee is able to satisfy home work station requirements, including necessary equipment, privacy, lack of interruptions, and security of data.
