Riley P. Bechtel
The
fourth and current generation of Bechtel family leaders, Riley P. Bechtel, is
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and a director of Bechtel Group, Inc.
Mr. Bechtel became President and Chief Executive Officer in June 1990 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bechtel Group in January 1996. Prior to Bechtel, Mr. Bechtel worked for the law firm of Thelen, Marrin, Johnson & Bridges, where he engaged in legal work for Bechtel and various other clients.
Mr. Bechtel received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology from the University of California at Davis. He also received a combined J.D. and M.B.A. from Stanford University School of Law and Graduate School of Business. He was admitted to the California State Bar in November 1979, and is a member of the California and American Bar Associations.
Mr. Bechtel is a director of the Fremont Group and J. P. Morgan Chase & Co. and serves on the Board of Trustees of the JASON Foundation for Education. He is a member of the American Society of Corporate Executives, The Business Council, The Business Roundtable, The Conservation Fund Corporate Council, Stanford Law School Dean’s Advisory Council, the National Petroleum Council, and the Indian School of Business Governing Board. Mr. Bechtel is an Honorary Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
